Business & Negotiation Expert

Mercor is seeking negotiation experts for a premier project with one of the world's top AI labs.

In this role, you will contribute your subject matter expertise to a cutting-edge project involving state-of-the-art large language models. Specifically, you will help create high-quality data that will inform the future of AI innovation by modeling how experts approach, strategize, and execute complex negotiations.

We are open to C-Suite execs, business professionals with MBAs, or academics.

You're a good fit if you:

• Are a senior business leader (e.g., partner-level consultant, C-suite executive, senior corporate development professional) or an academic (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) with deep negotiation experience
• Have demonstrated experience in designing, executing, and debriefing high-stakes negotiations, including:Mergers & acquisitionsLabor contractsCross-border joint venturesCrisis settlementsMultilateral climate/ESG agreements
• Publish or teach advanced material on negotiation strategy, behavioral decision-making, or game-theoretic bargaining
• Regularly lead executive programs or advise on complex, high-stakes deals
• Possess excellent communication skills and a nuanced understanding of strategic dynamics in negotiation

Here are more details about the role:

• The role is ongoing, starting at the end of June/beginning of July and continuing with rolling applications
• The project involves 10–20 hours of work per week with the potential to expand up to 40 hours per week

Ideal candidates include:

• **Business Track:**Professionals with 10+ years of experience leading or advising on complex negotiationsA portfolio of landmark deals or conflict resolutions
• **Academic Track:**PhD or equivalent in Management, Economics, Psychology, or Law with a negotiation focusActive research pipeline with publications in journals like Journal of Applied Psychology, Management Science, or Negotiation and Conflict Management Research

Screening Process:

• You will need to complete a short interview and form, which will take a total of 20–30 minutes to fully apply

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.

• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
