Chemical Engineering Expert

Mercor is seeking experienced Chemical Engineers to partner with a top AI research lab and contribute their domain expertise to the development of intelligent systems that understand chemical processes, system dynamics, and design reasoning. You will get an opportunity to apply your knowledge in reaction engineering, process optimization, thermodynamics, plant operations, or safety systems to train AI models that reflect how real-world chemical engineers think and solve problems. You’ll work with AI teams to evaluate and improve model outputs across the entire lifecycle of process engineering—from lab-scale development to industrial-scale production.

Why you are a good fit

You are an ideal candidate, if you -

• Have 5+ years of experience in

  chemical manufacturing, R&D, plant design, or process safety

  .

• Hold a PhD in Chemical engineering or related field from top a US university.

• Have strong understanding of nuclear systems design, reactor physics, and related frameworks.

• Have strong attention to details

• Have strong verbal and written communication skills

Role Highlights

• Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
