STEM Research Intelligence Engineer

Mercor is building a team of STEM Research Intelligence Engineers to work on a research project which aims to build an extremely challenging scientific coding benchmark to test the capabilities of large language models. This benchmark will be used by a leading AI research lab to internally test and improve their model.

In this project, you will:

• Refresh existing scientific coding problems from the SciCode benchmark, many of which are incomplete or incorrect.
• Create brand new challenging problems similar to those found in the SciCode benchmark, but tied directly to your area of research.
• Work closely with other top researchers in your field to review and update these problems.

We're looking for participants who:

• Hold or are currently in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in a STEM field from a top program.
• Have substantial recent research experience in their area of expertise.
• Have an exceptional level of attention to detail.
• Are excited about working with other researchers to build the most challenging scientific coding benchmark for LLMs.

Details about the role:

• That said, we do want participants to complete problems they commit to.
• The rate is a combination of hourly and bonus pay.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
