Mortgage Loan Officer

Role Overview

Mercor is hiring experienced Mortgage Loan Officers to support a pioneering AI research engagement focused on simulating consumer lending workflows. You'll help train and evaluate AI agents on realistic residential mortgage scenarios - from borrower intake through closing disclosures.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated loan decisions across workflows including pre-qualification, underwriting, rate disclosure, and closing packages.

• Simulate mortgage scenarios and provide structured feedback on AI behavior (e.g., borrower-fit recommendations, debt-to-income logic, credit-tier analysis).

• Review digital loan environments with sample loan files, rate sheets, and GFE/CD docs to ensure realistic design.

• Calibrate scoring rubrics for common steps like verifying borrower documentation or identifying fair-lending violations.

• Surface edge cases involving regulatory issues (e.g., ECOA, FCRA, TRID), credit overlays, or customer-service scenarios.

• Work asynchronously with product and AI researchers to fine-tune models.

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer (Retail, Consumer Direct, or Broker Channel).

• Proficient with residential loan origination platforms (Encompass, Calyx, Blend, etc.) and AUS systems (DU, LP).

• Deep understanding of mortgage regulations, including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and Fair Lending laws.

• Strong working knowledge of credit reports, income calculations, and loan structuring (FHA, VA, conventional).

• Excellent written communication skills; experience working remotely is a plus.

• NMLS license preferred (active or inactive).

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate (July 15th)

• Duration: 4 weeks

• Commitment: Part-time, ~20 hours/week

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
