Systems Engineering

Mercor is hiring experienced Systems Engineering professionals to support high-impact projects with leading AI labs and research organizations. We welcome professionals across electrical, mechanical, aerospace, robotics, industrial, materials, and systems engineering. Freelancers will apply their expertise to evaluate, refine, and validate AI-generated outputs tied to hardware design, manufacturing, applied physics, and systems integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate AI-generated solutions in areas like circuit design, robotics, manufacturing processes, materials, and thermal/mechanical systems

• Assess CAD models, simulations, or schematics for correctness and feasibility

• Provide structured feedback on technical accuracy, efficiency, and manufacturability

• Tag and organize content by engineering discipline, system type, or complexity

• Stress-test AI performance on real-world design, safety, and reliability problems

• Support benchmarking efforts to assess AI model capabilities in hardware and applied engineering domains

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in hardware, systems, or physical engineering disciplines

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s minimum; advanced degree preferred)

• Hands-on experience with design, prototyping, testing, or manufacturing of real-world systems

• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.) and/or simulation tools (MATLAB, ANSYS, COMSOL, SPICE)

• Familiarity with system design trade-offs, tolerance analysis, safety standards, and reliability testing

• Clear technical writing skills and ability to provide actionable feedback

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate

• Duration: 1–2 months

• Commitment: Part-time (15–25 hours/week, with flexibility up to 40 hours/week)

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
