Science Expert

Mercor is hiring experienced Science professionals to support high-impact projects with leading AI labs and research organizations. We welcome professionals across biology, physics, biochemistry, biophysics, and chemistry. Freelancers will apply their scientific expertise to evaluate, refine, and verify AI-generated outputs related to scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and applied research.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and refine AI-generated explanations, models, and solutions in biology, physics, chemistry, and related sciences

• Validate outputs for scientific accuracy, clarity, and methodological soundness

• Provide structured feedback on problem sets, research notes, and technical summaries

• Stress-test AI outputs on real-world scenarios (lab processes, data interpretation, applied experiments)

• Tag and organize scientific content by subfield (e.g., molecular biology, thermodynamics, organic chemistry, quantum physics, biophysics)

• Support benchmarking to assess AI model capabilities in quantitative and conceptual science reasoning

Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in scientific research, teaching, or applied work in biology, physics, biochemistry, biophysics, or chemistry

• Degree in a relevant scientific field (Bachelor’s minimum; Master’s or PhD preferred)

• Familiarity with research methods, data analysis, and scientific writing

• Hands-on lab or applied science experience strongly preferred

• Strong written communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly

• Comfort identifying errors, ambiguous reasoning, or missing assumptions in technical material

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate

• Duration: 1–2 months

• Commitment: Part-time (15–25 hours/week, with flexibility up to 40 hours/week)

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
