Social Science Expert

Mercor is hiring experienced Social Science professionals including economists, political scientists, sociologists, anthropologists, and related specialists to support high-impact projects with leading AI labs and research organizations. Freelancers will contribute their domain expertise to help ensure AI systems reflect accurate, nuanced, and research-grounded perspectives across major social science disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and refine AI-generated content for accuracy in economics, political science, and other social sciences

• Provide structured feedback on theories, data interpretation, and real-world policy implications

• Support model training on social science concepts, research methods, and applied reasoning

• Tag and organize content by discipline, methodology, or policy domain

• Assist with evaluation tasks to ensure models demonstrate realistic, rigorous, and ethical reasoning in social contexts

Ideal Qualifications

• Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, or another social science field OR significant professional experience in applied social science (e.g., policy research, consulting, academic publications)

• Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative methods

• Ability to provide critical feedback with clarity and precision

• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate

• Duration: 1–2 months

• Commitment: Part-time (15–25 hours/week, with flexibility up to 40 hours/week)

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
