Collection Expert

Mercor is hiring experienced Collection professionals to join an exciting collaboration with a top AI research lab. This role involves contributing to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems designed to replicate real-world workflows across collecting, curation, and preservation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and assess complex problems and tasks related to the practice of collecting, including strategies, organization, preservation, and evaluation of personal or professional collections

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, practicality, and relevance to real-world collecting practices

• Provide clear written feedback on collection-related content and evaluations

• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers to iterate and improve model performance

• Ensure accuracy and alignment with best practices in collection management, categorization, and expertise in all content used to train or evaluate AI systems

Ideal Qualifications

• Deep personal or professional experience as a collection expert, with demonstrated ability in building, organizing, or curating collections (e.g., books, memorabilia, art, antiques, niche items)

• Strong knowledge of collecting strategies, valuation, preservation, and community practices around collections

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking

• Prior experience in curation, appraisals, or collection-focused communities is a plus

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate

• Duration: 1–2 months

• Commitment: Part-time, ~20 hours/week (potential to extend to 40 hours/week)

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
