Anthropology Expert

Mercor is hiring experienced Anthropology professionals to join an exciting collaboration with a top AI research lab. This role involves contributing to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems designed to replicate real-world workflows across anthropology, social science, and applied research.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and assess complex problems and tasks in anthropology and related social sciences, including cultural analysis, ethnography, social theory, and applied research

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for conceptual accuracy, logical consistency, and relevance to real-world anthropological research and practice

• Provide clear written feedback on anthropology-related content and problem sets

• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers to iterate and improve model performance

• Ensure academic rigor and alignment with social science standards in all content used to train or evaluate AI systems

Ideal Qualifications

• Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, or another social science field OR significant professional experience in applied social science (e.g., policy research, consulting, academic publications)

• Deep subject-matter expertise in anthropology, with knowledge of ethnography, cultural studies, and social theory

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking

• Prior teaching, research, or publication experience is a plus

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Immediate

• Duration: 1–2 months

• Commitment: Part-time, ~20 hours/week (potential to extend to 40 hours/week)

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.

• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
