Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to source experienced shoppers with deep knowledge of their chosen hobby or area of product expertise. Whether your passion lies in fashion, cooking, cars, tech, outdoor gear, or beyond — we’re seeking individuals who can offer expert-level guidance and product recommendations in their area of expertise. This is a unique opportunity to channel your personal passion into frontier AI research by helping models better understand niche, real-world product domains. This work contributes to advancing frontier AI models by grounding them in authentic, domain-specific knowledge. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity for U.S.-based experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine domain-specific prompts related to your hobby or area of expertise

• Assess and evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, depth, and relevance

• Complete structured rubrics and form-based assessments in English

• Provide feedback on complex aspects of your domain in clear, written English

Ideal Qualifications

• 1000+ hours of experience in a hobby or domain (e.g., gaming, fashion, cooking, art, collecting, niche sports)

• Prior creation of content (blogs, videos, or equivalent) related to the hobby is a plus

• Demonstrate passion and deep familiarity with niche knowledge, jargon, and details in your area of expertise

• Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment) from an accredited U.S., UK, or Canadian university, or equivalent industry expertise

• Strong English proficiency, both written and spoken

• Moderate technical skills (comfortable using a browser, typing, installing/operating simple tools)

• Location: must be U.S.-based with valid work authorization

More About the Opportunity

• Start Date: Immediate

• Commitment: Part-time, ~20 hours/week

• Duration: 7-10 weeks

2. Model Training AI Interview A 30-minute conversational session designed to assess your ability to train a model in your area of expertise.

3. Work Trial A paid, 3-hour assessment evaluating your ability to interpret project guidelines and deliver output in your area of expertise.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
