Mercor is collaborating with a frontier AI research lab to engage individuals with exceptional mathematical problem-solving ability. We are seeking independent contractors who have achieved an International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) medal — gold, silver, or bronze only. This project focuses on advancing AI systems’ reasoning capabilities through exposure to world-class mathematical expertise. It is a unique opportunity to apply elite competition-level mathematics in cutting-edge research.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze complex mathematical problems and identify valid solution paths

• Evaluate reasoning quality and rigor in problem solutions

• Provide structured feedback to improve clarity, correctness, and completeness of solutions

• Contribute expertise in problem-solving strategies, proofs, and mathematical reasoning

Ideal Qualifications

• International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) medalist (gold, silver, or bronze only)

• Strong foundation in abstract problem solving and proof-based reasoning

• Ability to clearly communicate mathematical insights in written form

• Detail-oriented with experience tackling complex, multi-step problems

More About the Opportunity

• Expected engagement: 10–20 hours/week

• Short-term, project-based opportunity focused exclusively on IMO medalists

Contract and Payment Terms

• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
