Project Manager

Mercor is seeking Expert Project Managers (EPMs) to support Strategic Project Leads in managing projects with leading AI labs and research organizations. EPMs is a trusted operations partner in operational execution, helping to maintain quality control, support expert contributors, and ensure smooth project workflows, and playing a central role in ensuring project success. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who are adaptable, attentive to detail, and eager to build systems that unlock value. This is a long-term opportunity based on performance. While optional, familiarity with data annotation, especially rubrics, is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Support a Mercor Project Lead in coordinating project operations and managing workflows

• Engage experts on projects and manage community interactions

• Host office hours and develop Q&A documentation once projects reach a steady state

• Distribute project metrics emails, issue reminders or warnings, and nudge experts as needed

• Respond to support tickets and conduct 1:1 expert follow-ups

• Perform first-round data QA, often in collaboration with lead reviewers

Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in project management, operations, or community coordination

• Bonus: experience as an executive assistant, chief of staff, program manager, project manager, or teacher

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for expert engagement → skilled at structuring communication for skimmability (e.g. clear CTA)

• Structured approach to quality control and documentation

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in solving problems

• Experience with data annotation, especially in rubrics is a strong plus

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

• You must be able to commit 20+ hours per week for this role

• Initial scope will vary by project; strong contributors may be offered evergreen contracts

• Direct mentorship available from an experienced Mercor Strategic Project Lead

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
