Buyside Analyst - Finance

Mercor is hiring a Buy-Side Analyst on behalf of a frontier AI lab. The role centers on research, financial modeling, and portfolio monitoring to identify and evaluate investment opportunities across public equities, venture, and alternative assets. Unlike sell-side roles, this position is internal-facing — your work will directly influence portfolio allocation and capital deployment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth financial analysis (DCF, comparables, precedent transactions).

• Conduct industry and company research, with emphasis on AI and technology sectors.

• Prepare investment memos, theses, and committee presentations.

• Monitor portfolio performance, track risks, and analyze macro/sector developments.

• Support due diligence on private investments and partnerships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; CFA or advanced degree preferred.

• 1–3 years of experience in buy-side research, asset management, venture capital, private equity, or investment banking.

• Strong Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation skills.

• Familiarity with financial databases (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, PitchBook, FactSet).

• Clear communication, strong analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
