Finance Expert — IB, PE, VC & Fund Formation

About the Opportunity

A leading AI research organization is studying how advanced AI systems perform on complex transaction, investment, and private-fund work. We are seeking experienced investment-banking, private-equity, venture-capital, and fund-operations professionals to produce and evaluate institutional-quality analysis.

Depending on your experience, you may contribute as a practitioner completing analytical work or as a senior reviewer assessing that work for accuracy, commercial judgment, and execution quality.

What You'll Do

• Build and assess financial models, valuations, transaction analyses, and leveraged buyout models

• Prepare or review CIM analysis, investment-committee memoranda, and diligence findings

• Evaluate capital calls, distribution waterfalls, fund economics, and LP reporting

• Analyze fund-formation and subscription materials from a finance and operations perspective

• Identify modeling errors, unsupported assumptions, diligence gaps, and inconsistencies between analysis and recommendation

• Explain conclusions through clear, structured written reasoning

Who We're Looking For

• 5–7 years of relevant investment-banking or private-equity experience, or 5–10 years of relevant fund-operations experience, for the practitioner track; 7–15 years for the senior reviewer track

• Professional experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, fund finance, fund operations, or fund formation

• Strong modeling, valuation, transaction, diligence, and investment-writing skills

• Current or recent proximity to execution is highly valued

• Excellent written communication and the ability to make assumptions, risks, and recommendations explicit

• Experience reviewing deal teams, investment memos, or fund deliverables is especially valuable for the senior track

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
