The main function of a client software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops, and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software.
  • Build maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques.
  • Apply test automation techniques in mobile platforms such as Android or iOS.
  • Troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve problems.
  • Manage time effectively and work independently.
  • Provide support and constructive performance feedback through basic mentoring.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, and functional specification authoring to development, testing, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience building mobile applications, either Android or iOS.
  • Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management.
  • Shipped at least one large-scale product to production, supporting millions of active users.
  • Strong experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques and test automation techniques in Android or iOS.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field required.
